1. Nehemiah 8:10
“The joy of the Lord is your strength.”
God’s joy provides strength during challenging times. Worldly pleasures may give one happiness, but true joy comes from the Lord.
2. Psalm 16:11
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence, there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Fullness of joy is found in God’s presence. Fullness of joy is joy that knows no bounds, without limits, and it can only be found in the presence of God. The awareness that God is with you gives you the joy to navigate life’s challenges.
3. Philippians 4:4
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I will say, rejoice.”
What gives God the most joy is to see His children rejoicing always, even in the midst of life’s challenges. Believers are encouraged to rejoice in the Lord continuously.
4. Romans 15:13
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
God fills believers with joy and peace through faith in Christ Jesus, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, they are empowered to hope in God.
5. Psalm 30:5
“Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
Although sorrow may last for a time, joy follows. Believers may face challenges in life that do not bring happiness for some time, but God will definitely come through for them.
6. John 15:11
“These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”
Jesus speaks to His followers so that His joy may be in them. The Word of God gives joy to believers. When you are in a situation and the Word of God comes to you, it brings joy because of the assurance of a solution.
7. James 1:2
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds.”
Trials are opportunities for growth and joy. Believers in Christ should not lose heart when they are faced with trials because they will produce perseverance, patience, and hope, which will ultimately lead to joy.
8. Psalm 94:19
“When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.”
God’s comfort brings joy even amid anxiety. Humankind will always have one need or another that may bring anxiety, but God has His way of meeting the needs of His own.
9. Isaiah 61:10
“I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation.”
Joy is found in God’s gift of salvation. The greatest gift of God to man is the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, which brings salvation to all who believe in Him. The joy of salvation is beyond expression but is best understood when it is experienced.
10. 1 Peter 1:8
“Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory.”
Faith in Jesus brings profound joy. The joy of being identified with God as His own is the greatest joy. Though believers do not see God physically, by faith we see Him in action on a daily basis.
